A PGA-level course near Puerto Plata, on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
Playa Dorada Golf Course is a PGA-level course ranked among the top 100 courses outside the US by Golf Digest magazine. It’s designed by famed golf architect Robert Trent Jones Sr.
The 18-hole course is located in Playa Dorada near Puerto Plata, on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Several of the holes run along the ocean, with views of Mount Isabel del Torres throughout.
There are a number of villa and condo developments, as well as hotels and rentals, within Playa Dorada, some of which that back right on to one or more of the fairways. Significant residential projects are planned in coming years.
The course is a par 72 with approximately 6,990 yards on uneven but varied terrain, with bunkers and water coming into play to test the skills of even the best of golfers.
“The course has good variation in style of holes. On some you can really grip it and rip it while on others you have to place your tee shot carefully to make the most of it. The vegetation varies throughout the course. Tall trees and wetland in one area, palm trees and tall grass in another and rough vegetation along the beach.”
The amazing weather on the D.R.’s North Coast means you can play all year round. With 300+ days of sunshine a year, golf lovers could certainly work on their game!
